Tribute to RHS Tudor Rose winner, Bill Austin

The RHS shows team has paid tribute to Bill Austin who died last week. Bill was a member of the team that won the Tudor Rose in 2010 with the Tourism Authority of Thailand show garden at Hampton Court Palace Flower Show.

Joanna Cooke, Marketing & PR Manger at the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), said “Bill was a dear friend of us all at TAT and he will be missed very much. He was an absolute joy to work with and we are extremely proud of our shared success at Hampton Court Palace Flower Show over the past few years. We are honoured to have worked with Bill and the Elevations team. Our thoughts are with his family and colleagues at this sad time.”

Bill Austin worked with Elevations Exhibition & Design Ltd and the Tourism Authority of Thailand in 2009 for their first show garden and achieved a Silver Gilt medal. The following year the same team returned and won the Best in Show as well the prestigious Tudor Rose Award.

Mandy Almond, Show Manager of Hampton Court Palace Flower Show, said: “Bill’s presence will be sorely missed, and all of us at the RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show are greatly saddened by this news. This award was a very proud moment for Bill and we will remember him with great fondness.”

At his funeral Bill requested a wreath in the shape of the Tudor Rose.
